NEW WORK

“Jammed”

I’m pleased to reveal my latest work which will become available for purchase through The Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (Online Edition) in July.

Jammed is my play on words to describe the scene but to also implicate the idea of actual jam, typically red in colour. We perceive from this familiar scene our notions of grey, white and black but what we actually see on closer inspection are tones of mauve, violet and crimson. This is meant as a meditative piece as we contemplate the schism between perception and reality.

This piece is painted primarily with palette knives. It is a highly textured work. I love to pull and drag colours to give the work a perceptual look, mirroring our peripheral vision which is never really focused.

This piece will be framed and available to purchase through the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair beginning July 2nd.

This was a digital study from last year. A lot of the time I use digital studies to correct the perspective of images I capture with my camera, to rebalance the symmetry lost in my photograph and create a composition that is aesthetically pleasing on its own merit.
